Top 5 SG/Dr Who/Torchwood crossovers/fusions - slash, gen, het

Mar 29, 2010 08:37

I ended up with more than one fandom's worth of crossovers and/or fusions so expect another post today. There's a variety of genres, story lengths and a mix of gen, het and slash here.

Title: Displacement (aka The Longest Three-Week Day)
Author: michelel72
Rating: PG
Fandoms SG:A, Dr Who, Torchwood
Character/Pairing: Rodney/Donna Noble
Word Count: 23,800
Warnings: breakup of a canon couple
Link: http://michelel72.livejournal.com/49511.html
Why I chose this: This is a pairing that I think shouldn't work but it does, and does so very well; Donna and Rodney are just so right for each other in this story. It's a lovely romantic story.
Excerpt: He would never lie to her, or keep secrets, or try to feed her to giant spiders - or any other kind of alien, thank you very much. And no talking down to her, either.

She would understand that he was trying, and tell him when he did something wrong or thoughtless instead of immediately getting all hurt about it, because for all his brains he could be a bit thick when it came to dealing with people and he was actually quite proud of his ability to be rude but only when he was doing it on purpose. And no calling him Meredith.

Title: The Intergalactic Space Race Special
Author: dracothelizard
Fandoms SG-1, Dr Who, Top Gear
Rating: PG-13
Character/Pairing: SG-1 ensemble, Top Gear ensemble, gen with a hint of Jack O'Neill/Richard Hammond
Warnings: none
Link: http://dracothelizard.livejournal.com/307849.html
Why I chose this: In a fandom that eats crazy for breakfast, I have no idea where the idea for this would have come from. I'm just grateful that it came from somewhere. Even if you're not familiar with Top Gear you'll enjoy this fun little romp. If you are familiar, I think you'll love it.
Excerpt: There was that weird three-wheeled car that had been on the SGC car park. The spaceship. The Stig’s spaceship. And it was here. And what was even worse were the two smug men sitting on its bonnet. Well, one looked smug anyway. The Stig was still wearing his helmet, but Jack knew he was smug too. .

Title: The Holes In The Ground
Author: fahye
Fandoms SG:A, Dr Who
Rating: PG
Character/Pairing: Rodney, The Doctor (Four, Nine, Ten)
Word Count: 5156
Warnings: none
Link: http://mercurial-wit.livejournal.com/40092.html
Why I chose this: There's nothing so joyful as Rodney being utterly Rodneyish, which he is here, the author playing with time travel, paradoxes and the impossibilities of the Whoniverse.
Excerpt: "Weeell," the Doctor says, looking shifty, and runs a hand through his hair. "Spacetime is a bit more durable than people give it credit for. More like rubber than tissue paper. Bendy," he finishes lamely.

Rodney thinks this sounds like a whole lot of elusive nonsense, and he should know, but he contents himself with scowling and echoing, "Bendy," in tones that are as flat as he can manage.

The Doctor doesn't seem to take the hint; he beams and shoves his hands into his pockets. "Absolutely. No tears as long as you know in which directions the rules can safely be bent, which I do."

Title: A Ring in the Black Sea
Author: basingstoke
Fandoms SG:A, Torchwood
Rating: NC-18
Character/Pairing:SG:A ensemble, Torchwood ensemble, Teyla/Jack Harkness, Jack Harkness/Ianto Jones
Warnings: none
Link: http://community.livejournal.com/vintagemilitary/8506.html
Why I chose this: I can understand that this fic might not suit everyone, written as it is from Teyla's POV, though I think it's beautiful and thought-provoking. On the surface it's simple, about death, grieving, life and living, and you might think "of course Jack would have sex with Teyla". Read it through again and you'll find more.
Excerpt: He let out his breath and smoothed water across his face with both hands. It was a gesture of grieving on Alaeon, bringing the salt water to your face to mix with the tears that you shed. The waters at Alaeon were vast and shallow, warm and salty, threaded through with fingers of land. On the land, people from all worlds had built benches, cairns, simple piles of stone or steel or plastic. Clothing, weapons, all the trappings of your people were left on the land when you took the water. In the water, you were nameless. In the waters of Alaeon, the tears of all the Pegasus galaxy mingled. If you found you could not cry, all of Pegasus would cry for you.

Title: Like A Dream In The Morning
Author: Leah (half of leahwoof)
Fandoms SG:A, Torchwood
Rating: R
Character/Pairing: John/Rodney, Jack Harkness
Word Count: 10,000
Warnings: (temporary) character death
Link: http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/492028.html
Why I chose this: Umm, I had to have at least one McShep story to keep my slash fangirl card? Seriously, however, this is a moving story, and the writing takes me right into the thick of it. There's a happy ending too, which works for me.
Excerpt: "Thank you." John pulls Rodney closer, whispers it into his hair. "Thank you for finding me."

"Do you really think I wouldn't?" Rodney bobs back from him. He looks shocked, maybe even hurt. "Don't you know I'd do anything to save you?" He cups the side of John's face. "Jesus, John," he says. "You--God, I'd do anything…" Suddenly he's crushing John against him again, arms hard and shaking around John's back. Rodney's forehead is on John's shoulder, and his breathing is rough and fast.

pair: rodney mckay/ofc, genre: fusion, char: rodney mckay, pair: jack o'neill/omc, genre: het, char: daniel jackson, genre: gen, genre: slash, char: jack o'neill, pair: teyla emmagan/omc, char: john sheppard, pair: mckay/sheppard, genre: crossover, type: fic, char: teyla emmagan
