I saw someone being euthanized on Wednesday in Bioethics.  It was the most haunting thing I have ever seen in my life, mostly because I have never seen a person actually die before.  Up until that point on Wednesday, death to me has always been a noticable absence of a person; it's when I go to a family event and notice that maternal grandparents ( Read more... )

wow that's really bizarre...do you know why this person was being euthanized? and how do you even get someone to agree to do that? o_O

The person had Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), or more commonly known as Lue Gehrig's disease, and didn't want to suffer anymore. So he asked a physician to euthanize him. That physician happened to be Dr. Kevorkian who has long been an advocate of euthanasia (and his public broadcasting of his euthanizing the person is probably very well-known).
