A letter from a Bella freshie

This almost made me cry, it was soooo sweet. And it made me realize why I love Bella so much.

Ladies, I just wanted to let all of you know how much you have meant to me this year. I know that my college experience and my level of happiness at MWC would be nowhere near what it is now if it were not for BellA. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined what I was getting myself into when I auditioned for the group, and it is so much better than what I could have conceived. I am honored to have had the chance to know all of you, as well as sing on a regular basis and perform with you. I am so proud to be apart of a group that is so talented, close-knit, down to earth, caring, outgoing, enthusiastic, professional, and many other wonderful attributes. We are comprised of many different diverse and distinct personalities, and yet we can be incredibly cohesive when it comes time.

In high school, I had a very close-knit group of girlfriends. There is something incredibly intimate and sacred about the way that women relate to each other, and I was wondering if I would find that at Mary Washington. At one point, I felt distressed, that I put all of my time into my activities, and did not have the time to cultivate friendships. Then, it hit me that some of my closest friendships were within the bounds of BellA. We are more than an a cappella group; we are confidants, many shoulders to cry on, a barrel of laughs, and most importantly, friends. Sometimes, I almost feel like we are sisters. (Even if we aren’t a sorority.) I feel like I have learned so much from all of you, and hope that I continue to in the future. I will miss you so much this summer and cannot wait until we return in the fall to come together again to join our voices and spirits. I wish you all an amazing, and fulfilling summer in whatever you do. Please come back relaxing, fulfilled and happy; you all deserve it.

Con mucho amor para mis BellAs,

Katie
