wow...i feel like i just relived the whole thing all over again :( I'm afraid to ask...was your friend okay?

Yes, thank God both friends that worked at "the Beast" in the WTC survived. We didn't learn this till quite late in the day and I'll never forget the hours of phone calls and worrying.

They worked in the first tower that was hit. One friend was heading for the elevator to go up to his office when the plane crashed. He described jet fuel and flames in the elevator shafts. The other friend was at work on the 80th floor. He was only a handful of floors below the crash site but got out of the building and ran to safety before it fell.
