I'm not surprised that I'm sick, but that doesn't mean I'm not angry about it. We came home from our cruise to deal with an injured pet, which caused a lot of stress for us. Don't discount the effect of a dog screaming in pain, seriously

And it sounds like you need a vacation from the holidays. Relatives or sickness the whole time.
Absolutely no one in the library until the 12th or just no one who can be in charge? I mean, if you're really still sick, they could just put a sign on the door. I doubt people will be queuing up at the doors the week before classes start up again. If there's only one person left to run the place, they'll have to understand sometimes that one person gets sick!
