I was about to red rep him myself when it disappeared! I did have time to add my "report bad post" entry to the queue, there must have been a SLEW of others by then. I also noticed that David himself went in to see what all the fuss was about. *LOL*

I thought it was very funny that he was so vehement about being judged negatively for his use of textspeak and his grammatical errors, when it was his complete rudeness that was really being called into question. :-D

Funny thing - Droops got red jello in the "English" thread. .but it was from the "mod-wanna-be" from the Flanigan Thunk Thread. Guess she's expanding her turf. *ROTFL*

I'm sometimes amused by the lack of discretion in some of the younger ones. Hehehe... I've been using computers since I was 12... you whippersnapper...

One would think that someone with a user name like 3 PhDs would know better... evidently, it's just a name.

It is always the case that each generation thinks they are the "first" to do anything cool.

I thought the name in itself was a dead giveaway to the poster's age (and maturity)...would a real Ph.D. feel the need to advertise it in their user name??

I gave he/she/it red jello and told them they were OLD enough to know better. *LOL* Gee, it has been MONTHS since I've given out red. Felt good. :o)

I gave him green for that post....don't know why, I think I was just fed up of all the crap bouncing around. I wanted to red ding him, but I couldn't do it.

With regards to his name I believe that he chose it as a way of having a pop at someone on the Sci-tech forum, who was "apparantly" claiming to have 2 Ph.D's and working for some top secret company. It was all very juvinile and silly.

You'd think that somneone claiming to have 3PHDs (even as a joke)would be able to write in proper English. I'm not a grammar nut, but I thought the purpose of the Forum was to communicate. For the most part, I've been very impressed at the high level of writing at Gateworld. When I think that people like Feli and Iskandra take the trouble to write well, in a language that is not their own, those lazy Twerps really annoy me. I'm always telling my mother that written communication is in a Renaissance in the internet. People like 3PHDs, who have the education, but elect not to use it, are the communication equivelent of slobs.

I heartily agree. Being a member of the "big bad advertising community", I see nothing wrong in using every talent at one's disposal to sway one's audience. If I wish to justify my opinion or persuade to my point of view I know it is a definite advantage to use a clear form of communication appropriate to the venue.

Which, hilariously, is exactly why I USE textspeak in chat rooms, where it is apropos!

I thought it was telling that the poster inferred that we were calling him "stupid" because he preferred textspeak, when instead we were simply arguing our own point of view with intelligence and clarity. We had just out-argued him and his defense was to call us "meanies". *LOL*
