Managed to get Sam in to see a doctor this afternoon - okay I knew it was a migraine, but this is the worst she has ever been and I hoped to get some proper medication that would help her. She coould barely walk from the car into the surgery and the receptionists could see this, so they bumped her to the top of the list and sat us in a darkened ( Read more... )

I get migraines that last for days - I hurl, can't stand light, can barely walk, numb fingers, etc. Doctor kept giving me crap that never worked, or put me to sleep. Finally a friend gave me an Imitrix to try and it worked. Then I had to ARGUE with my doc to get a perscription. Guess he doesn't get kickbacks from Glaxo. *grrrr*. Stuff runs about $10 per pill but it is worth every penny and I usually only need one o get rid of the migraine - maybe one more later on if it is really bad.

*Hugs everyone who gets migraines*

Imitrix? I've not heard of that. Migraines are so bad, I'm just thankful that Sam's only ever seem to last one day. I'm crossing my fingers that this one will be gone tomorrow. Dont you find that doctors' eyes seem to glaze over as you as you say "migraine"?

Yes, they act like you are some nutter case. I used to miss 2-3 days of work at a time but now I don't miss any for migraines. Imitrix really works for me, but it doesn't work for all migraines. Mine are hormonally based and I think that's what it was designed for. You can look it up on the net for more info. GlaxoSmithKline makes it. Ask the doc about it, when he wakes up (or you kick him). :o)

doctors make me wish I had a symbiote sahmcarter November 3 2005, 16:56:16 UTC
symbiotes are nicer.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Its bad enough to be ill and in pain but then to have a putz with the bedside manner of Neerti on top of it. I hope the medicine works, and fainting - that concerns me.

Hugs for you, Mom, its so hard to see your kids less than healthy. I appreciate the updates even though you have a lot going on right now.

Thanks hun, I can sit quietly at the comp and keep an eye on her at least. Thank goodness for granny who has got the little ones - at least she is getting peace.
Nice to have you back!

I feel so cross for you and Sam....lousy doctor. There's nothing more frustrating than a Doctor with an atitude (I've had my fair share, all military hence the reason me and the kids go civvie now).

I hope the meds do the trick and she's back on her feet soon. I've never really had a migraine. The only ones I've ever had are Ocular migraines, you get the psychedelic vision but no pain..very strange.

(((Share)) There's nothing worse than seeing your kids sick.

I've had one migraine and that was enough for a lifetime! Give Sam a hug for me...very gently of course......WAIT, did Egeria say she gets psychedelic visions?!

Poor kiddie...I hope she's feeling better today!

I don't get migraines, but I get a lot of stress headaches from my job, and something I call a "sun" headache, usually when I am exposed to a lot of sunlight or computer screen light. Then my eyes will start to hurt from the light and I'll get nauseous from the ache and have to sit in a dark, completely quiet room until it passes. Those only last a few hours and I don't get them very often, but man, they are debilitating. I can't begin to imagine what three days of migraine pain would be like...your girl has my complete sympathy!

The Imigran worked and she began to feel better last night. She got up and asked to go to school today!
