Carbonneau is fired!

Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey Monday announced that he is taking over Guy Carbonneau as Head Coach of the Montreal Canadiens effective immediately. Associate coach Doug Jarvis,assistant coaches Kirk Muller and Roland Melanson will be staying on the coaching staff.

I'm sad about it for the obvious reasons, but I think it has been long long overdue. Don't you?

In a sense, it's not surprising, but on another, it is. Like, I thought Gainey and Carbo were so intertwined that they'd rise or fall together.

Yeah. I think he also became complacent thinking that very same thing. He's been with the Habs for so long, I think he might have even thought himself untouchable.
