Pick a partner for Eliot in Finding Home

Aug 30, 2014 13:40

I've closed the poll and made my decisions. Despite votes for Neal being overwhelming, i'm not going in that direction since there are issues with the relationship I can't reconcile. Instead, I will be going with Eliot/Hannibal and Neal/Henry Morgan (from Forever).

Poll If I don't pick Neal, I'm contemplating pairing Neal with Cory Raines, because two ( Read more... )

He'll totally be added to the family anyway. Eventually. They probably all will, depending on how many years it takes me to write this series.

Despite Neal's popularity, I'm still leaning toward Hannibal.

But I'm growing more and more fond of the idea of Kronos taking newly Immortal Neal on as a student in a bid to prove to Methos he's a new man. Oh course, it won't exactly work. Peter and Tony can despair at Damien Moreau training Neal.

You didn't put him in the poll, but you mentioned Quinn and that's where my vote is being put. He's a hitter like Eliot and they both seem to get along outside of business which is awesome. Plus, Quinn is a great character that isn't in many fics so seeing him in it (with Eliot to boot!) would be pretty cool. It's also within the actual fandom (nothing against the crossover pairings, in fact I love the ones so far!) since it's also nice to see straight up fandom pairings once in a while, especially in a big crossover such as your series.

Those suggestions were alternatives for Neal, not Eliot. To me, Eliot and Quinn are reluctant BFFs. (Besides, I've already got Methos/Kronos, Monroe/Rosalee and Chris/Vin for single fandom pairings :p )

I went with Hannibal.
Neal's great, really. But I feel that, considering how Methos and Dean dress, any suit-wearing gents should be involved with Tony's team somehow.
Neal could fit into a crossover based more on the FBI side on things, perhaps? A case involving both white collar crime and whatever they call Tony's specialty on the books, maybe? Neal would get along SO WELL with at least three of them! And even the fourth is a strong possibility!

I'm inclined to agree with you. Though Neal will probably be introduced to Tony's team via Kronos, not work, but Tony and Peter will inevitably end up running herd on the lot of them.

What would they call Tony's unit on paper, do you think? They have to put SOMETHING on the paperwork when they pass cases to Our Heroes.
Once again, I think of the BAU. They must have looked into what cases get sent Tony's way.
Gibbs too, come to think of it, though I don't really care if he shows up again or not.
And how do they deal with the lack of arrests? There's only so many times you can say that the perp was shot while resisting arrest before it starts to look bad.

They're a criminal investigation field unit and most of the time everyone else is just really glad not to have to deal with the weird case themselves, so they don't ask too many questions.
The BAU has given their cases a shallow look, but between Crawford and Tony, they've sanitised most of it. At some point, I've got a fic where the BAU has cause to look at the team much more closely.
They have sometimes have arrests, like with the NCIS fic. But most of the time, when there's something like Parasomnia and people are dying and then they're not, the higher ups consciously decide not to look too closely at whatever cover-up Tony comes up with. As long as the weird stuff other agents haven't been able to solve stops happening.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it :D
