[Greetings, Lucetians. Those walking toward the village plaza will see an interesting sight in the early afternoon. Using their respective magical abilities, twelve-year-old Helios and Draco work together to create a grand snow castle. Nearby sits twelve-year-old Ginia and her canine companion, the girl offering up the occasional suggestion on her ( Read more... )

[Well. Court magician Draco is busy hanging out at the top of the castle, keeping an eye on the bitties and another eye on the people below them. How he got roped into this, he's still not sure, but he's finding that he's not really regretting it. He's busy crafting a small pile of snowballs if needed though. He's fine with the bitties ignoring him while they demand their tributes, but you can bet he's busy judging the tributes themselves.

Any of the bitties are free to talk to him as he's busy spinning snowballs. (And anybody else down below is allowed to call him out for playing babysitter, of course.)]

[Demanding tributes is hard work! Ginia takes a break and lets the two boys continue obtaining tributes as she wanders over to Draco, offering over a doughnut. After all, even their court magician needs food.]

[He'll look away from the snowballs when he spots Ginia, eyeing that doughnut. He doesn't pause for very long before he accepts it, breaking off a piece.]

Thanks. Rupert's tribute, wasn't it?

[Ginia nods happily and sits down, Odin coming over to curl around her.]

They're good doughnuts! We're getting lots of good tributes.

[Robert may not be the first person at the castle site, but he's certainly going to be there sooner or later. Being the unofficial caretaker for Helios means he feels like he has some kind of personal stake in his safety and health.

This, naturally, means keeping an eye on him in the snow, even if Draco is there being a bodyguard.

He's trying to loosen up a bit, though - as much as Robert ever can, anyway. So he is smiling softly as he watches the little bitties hard at work, and as he himself occasionally taps away at his well-sheltered nanocomputer.

... Feel free to ask what he's doing, little bitties. Or try to get him involved in the castle-making! He won't bite.]

[Rupert will charitably let this go on for a little bit before he surreptitiously pokes his head up to address Robert in a loud whisper.]

Mister Hastings! You gotta give us tribute!

... Tribute?

[Robert tilts his head, curiously. Somehow this concept has managed to elude him so far.]

What would be a suitable tribute?

[...well...]

Hot chocolate. Or doughnuts, or sweets. Or a story.

Or a bike with a basket!

[Just...stands back a bit, smoking a cigarette and admiring the workmanship. Yup. Snow forts: not something kids got to make in Georgia during the winter.]

[Aha! Their next citizen, here to pay tribute! From the top of the castle, there will be fierce, silent pointing, then a small wave.]

[A snowball promptly sails over Link's head to land harmlessly just behind him.]

You gotta give us tribute!

[The royal weapons master gets to the point.]

A tribute is something you give us because we're the boss and we have a castle and you don't!

[...yeah, can't really lie, he's enjoying this bit.]

[Chuckles at the sight and brings them all hot cocoa. He's a sucker for kids okay. He doesn't even know about the tribute fee.]

[Rupert rears up to throw a warning shot...sees the tell tale steam over the hot cocoa...and promptly hides it behind his back.]
