My dogs (Chihuahua's) had a similar issue a couple month ago. They had to be on meds and special food for a couple of weeks and regularly seen by the vet. My older one was much worse than the little one. One is 1.5 years, the other is 6 months. The older one still hasn't gained back the 1.5 lbs. he lost while he was sick ... when you only weigh 7 lbs. to begin with ... that's a lot.
