[Today, Jak's feeling grumpy.
Maybe it's the realization that two years had already passed since he had been snatched from his life and pulled onto this stupid boat.
Maybe it's the memories and sadness dredged up from the
remembrance ceremony for his deceased mother a few days ago

And the alcohol, of course. Can't work without that.
Looks like he must not trust the little map on the comms, because he's busily doodling his own. There's no real reason to hide what he's doing, so he'd figured he might as well work near the food. His more detailed notes, of course, are elsewhere.
He straightens up and rolls his shoulders, noticing Jak heading in when he does. Well, hello there, exceptionally unstable provisional member of the Underground. Torn raises a hand in greeting.]
Jak.

He wasn't particularly in the mood for company, but he does perk up slightly when he sees Torn. He's good company ... well, sometimes.
Snagging a bottle of something -- whiskey, it looks like -- Jak hooks a glass and slides into the booth opposite Torn.]
What're you working on?

Maps.
[Obviously. Rough draws of decks 11, 12, and 15 litter the table, along with a half finished rough of deck 10. Torn's been a busy little wumpbee.
He holds up the comm and shakes it.]
This is a handy little device, but I trust my own work better.

Torn and his maps. Jak did not get the love interest.]
Hnn.
How're you finding it?
[Considering how life on the boat was marginally better than life back home, it wasn't too much of an adjustment. Well, not for Jak at least.]

...For the time being, anyway.
Maia's decided to wander into the forest, though. She's been itching for some fresh air - and while she supposes there's no real way for her to get any of that inside a boat, the illusion of fresh air will be just as good. It only takes a few minutes of walking inside the forest before she senses the presence of Dark Eco - and it's about another minute before she finds Jak training.
Maia just watches in silence for a little while. It's interesting to observe someone so full of Dark Eco. Really, she's never known anyone else like that, save for Gol and herself. However, Maia's silence can only last so long before she decides to pipe up.]
I hope I'm not interrupting anything too important.

He's damp from sweat from working out, and his face is tense with concentration, brow furrowed and twitching now and again. Every few seconds, a bolt of Dark Eco snaps out from his skin and skitters along the ground, the grass around him blackened in places.
When he finally notices Maia, the Dark Eco crackles around him momentarily with his frustration, then seeps back inside as he cracks his eyes open and glares at her.]
You are.

Although I will applaud you on actually trying to keep yourself under control. [She and Gol spent a good portion of their time meditating, too. It was a good way to become more aware of what was flowing through their veins, and also served as a decent distraction from the pain.]
Tell me, how has that been working out for you?

I'm still alive.

Now might not be the best time to speak to Jakkie Boy, but hell if Jinx knows anything about social cues.]
Hey, Jak.
[He even took the time to remember your name.]

Jak's actually got a bright red Javelin X set up, the hood popped and various tools scattered around. He could easily have the computer tweak it for him, and Precursors know he's no Keira, but something about this is soothing. It's mind-numbing and distracting and something to keep his mind off everything else.
Standing up as Jinx calls out to him, he only just keeps from rolling his eyes. Instead he grunts in greeting, then bends back over the engine.]

Nice wheels ya' got there. [Even though that is certainly not a zoomer.] Never seen somethin' like that in Haven.
Reply
Javelin X. It's from the Kras racing circuit, I guess.
[He's still pissed at Jinx, but then he's pissed at everyone, so it's not exactly unusual.]

He'd forgotten. HE'S PISSED AT THAT GUY.
So he stalks into Sergei's and slams a hand down on the bar near Jak; not hard enough to break anything but hard enough to rattle glasses.]
Hey! Why didn't you get punished?
Reply
Grunting, he steps around him in his search for a bottle.]
Punished for what.

For attacking me, dilweed. You forget about that already? Memories lost in that alcoholic haze you call your daily life?

[If Jak's good at anything, it's pissing people off. And boy does he want to piss off Bass.
Snagging a bottle, he sets it on the counter and turns back to glare at the robot.]

Sometime while Jak was gone Daxter had managed to drag himself to the bathroom for some water, but he still looks fairly rumpled once he gets back. Miserable and angry at the world for making him that way.]

Morning, sunshine.
[He holds up a bag with some fried food in it.]
I brought dinner.

[Daxter crawls out from beneath the covers and shakes his head, adjusting his goggles before hopping onto the nightstand. That is all the cordiality you get, Jak.]

Did you even get up?
