I'm currently doing my damndest to try and find work from home as well. So here are the places I've come across on the internet that seem to have honest job leads and aren't just filled with scams
( ... )
When Elayna was a senior deciding what school to go to, the schools wanted her to pick me! pick me! pick me! As a transfer, it's all, "Oh, so NOW >you< want >us<. The shoe is on the other foot!" Just about every transfer I know got screwed on financial aid. It is worth continuing to pester the financial aid office. Sometimes money frees up, even mid-year.
Office people are expected to drive so they can get stuck running errands. They get petty cash if the errand involves buying something, but nothing for gas.
Unfortunately, ADA-friendly employers tend to want their ADA employees to >look< like they have a disability. They want their diversity to be obvious, so they can get proper credit. Perhaps you could drool a little at your next interview?
The deeply cynical me suspects it might also be a screening mechanism. But in a big city like Boston, with decent public transit, that doesn't make sense either. Unless transit goes on strike regularly.
Yeah, colleges really screw transfer students with the financial aid. I transferred after my freshman year and got zilch when I applied as a transfer (except lots of loans). Keep asking the financial aid office and the department she's in for help - my Dad got them to squeeze out a few small scholarships for me that way. It wasn't much, but it helped nonetheless.
It was very irresponsible of them to tell you it was ok to apply after the "preferred date," which is code for "actual deadline." I am sorry! (and feel your pain - I'm looking at my D's looming tuition bill and biting my nails and eying things I can sell)
