Dear teenage me: when you grow up, you will wear glitter and feathers and sequins anywhere you damn well choose. I think a lot has to do with the transition from "being forced to be in a society where ALLTHETHINGSYOUMENTIONED were weird and outside and shunned or worse" to "I can make my own damned social circle of people who think these things are awesome and will bring more awesome into the circle"

I can't remember at what age I started to grok how much this shift was a part of my own teenaged trauma, but I know it was well after college...
