Wow, been a long time since I've posted anything on here. Though then again, no one ever really seems to read my journals anyways, whether on here or on FA. So I guess these journals are only ever for just getting something off of my mind or letting a load off of my chest. To speak my feelings whenever I'm feeling down, since I very rarely ever

I'm fairly certain everyone in the community feels this way at some point or another. Granted, thats not an excuse to avoid feeling like you dont get enough attention, but the road to being known in the community revolves a lot of online communication, which is sometimes not always possible for people who actually have a life outside of their computers. I mean, being an artist myself doesnt get me tons of attention either, I have people comment on my works yeah, but really, its when your actual friends get to see it that matters most. Sometimes you'll have someone contact you.. maybe comment on your art/story, but its just the art that gets the attention, everything else that comes after is what actually makes a friend.

You may see all those people getting art as a gift, some people do it often for people they know, or just people who ask. Some folks just ask everyone possible for art.. others pay for it.. point is, attention isnt always something you want instead of making worthwhile relationships.

Just my 2 cents.

I can understand that and I know that fame is a double edged sword as well, which is generally something to be avoided. Yet for whatever reasin some part in my subconciounce wants me to get some fame or other. But I do agree that friends really are the one true treasure in the world, even more so then fame. Though I do have a fair few friends on FA, but sometimes it gets to be a bit depressing when they don't comment on any journals or any submissions I do in general.

It's true that a whole lot of this fandom revolves around pics and artists--no use lying about that. However, Morca's dead-on right--it's not the attention that matters. Taking FA for example, it's one thing to have a person watch or fave or even comment on your work. It's a whole different story when it's a friend who genuinely cares about you and your efforts outside of aethetic or 'other' reasons. Attention is and generally will be short--great artists or writers who create a handful of pieces a year are still ignored for those who are more prolific. Friendships, though...those are what will last, and I'm hoping you don't lose out on enjoying the friendships you have with people who really do care about you.
