I give up.

You criticize because that is what makes you a musician - the ability to make educated judgments about music and performers. If it were a requirement that one be completely successful within the field they are judging, we wouldn't have a LOT of music teachers, reviewers, or students. You are absolutely allowed to make your own judgments, because it furthers your education as a performer and as a prospective educator one of these days (because really, everybody ends up doing that :P).

There are also probably a few juniors and sophomores (as well as most of the freshmen) who didn't make the ensemble. It'll help next year when you're in opera workshop and actually interacting with the people who are casting. Don't sweat this year, seriously.

Also, are you on opera crew that quarter? Because maybe they had too many people say that they absolutely couldn't crew that show (I know I did), and had to choose people to crew that they perhaps would have put in the chorus otherwise?

No, actually I am crewing Threepenny. And alot of this was a panic attack/ freak out I had last night in the heat of the moment. I feel slightly less horrible today, but I am basically deciding I don't have the energy and time to really dwell on it.

But thank you for your kind and insightful comments. I really appreciate them!!! :-)
