Night before last as I sat watching TV with my wife one of the cats (The Dumb One) took the opportunity to get my attention by nuzzling and purring in my ear.  Normally I would've found it cute, but on this occasion I nearly jumped out of my skin.  Without intending it (or maybe the conniving little bastard did intend it) he had just invoked a very ( Read more... )

I had a similar dream when I was... 4 or 5, maybe? And it still freaks me out sometimes.

I "woke up" from a scary dream because I heard something behind my bed, so I called for my mom. She told me there was nothing there, and that I should look, just to feel better.

So I checked behind the space between the headboard and the wall... and there was this shadowy, blacker-than-black animal *thing*, with red eyes. It growled at me.

And then I woke up screaming.

Did the stupid cat have access to the bed room at the time of that dream?

My dream was the glowing alien skull peering in my window. Did not like that one.

No, the cats are specifically denied access to the bedroom. Had the cat been the cause I probably wouldn't have been quite so freaked. The interaction between dream/real worlds has happened for me in the past. Usually sounds in the real world making their way into my dream, but had there been a source for the sensation I felt on my ear I could have dismissed it easily and returned to sleep.
