22. Mother Nature [232 ji]
“You would make a good mother you know.”
Iruka stopped from where he was drying dishes to look at his lover who was still reading his favorite book. Iruka slung the slightly damp towel he was using over his shoulder and stood in front of Kakashi, hands on his hips.
“Oh, really?”
Kakashi’s attention snapped from his book to Iruka at the testing tone in his lover’s voice, “wait, no. Not that you’re like a woman or anything…” Iruka’s stare hardened; wrong choice of words. “It’s just that you have… motherly qualities.”
Now it seemed Kakashi had managed to save his ass from his little mix-up, Iruka actually looked intrigued, “Okay… how so?”
The Jounin paused, putting a hand on his chin as if in thought as Iruka awaited an answer, now looking ridiculously curious as to what qualified him as a mother.
“Well, let’s see…” Kakashi counted off on his fingers, “You’re kind, you’re good with kids, you like kids, you’re caring and protective…” Kakashi snuck a glance at his lover, who seemed to have adopted a rather sweet shade of red at the not-so-subtle compliments.
“And you have silky hair and a slender waist.” So he had to ruin it.
Oh well, he figured the wet-towel mark would fade from his cheek eventually.
