Work, work, work....

First I would like to thank everyone who chimed in yesterday on my keyboard question(s). I think I have more or less decided to go with a Logitech G110 or G510. The Logitech Illuminated Keyboard that Caly recommended was actually the perfect solution but I noticed a flaw when I went back to look over the choices. From the pictures it appears that ( Read more... )

Oh, on that height of the keys thing, I think it's just a matter of getting used to one or the other. I've been on my MacBook Pro so long that I have to make a conscious effort to type on the more traditional keyboards or everything comes out misspelled.

We're all creatures of habit to some extent and get used to what we always use or have to use.

I never minded typing on my laptop but the new keyboards that were shipping with our Dell desktops at work just feel odd to me compared to the old ones. The Logitech keyboard that Caly pointed me to has a similar look so it made me a tad skittish.

The only keyboard that I could probably never effectively use is the type where it is sorta split in the middle.

You're not weird, I need big keyboards myself to really enjoy typing. My mom's old keyboard was horrible for me for that reason, as well as the crazy idea of moving a few keys around.

The LIK does have relatively shallow keys, but they press fairly far into the board itself, I'd say about half the depth of a standard keyboard. If you have a chance to get your hands on one in a store I would still recommend it.

You'll probably understand it when I say that the keyboard I got with my desktop just feels wrong. I would have to see the LIK in person to know just how similar it is to that one and if it would work for me or not. I think I saw one at Frye's the other day when I was in there but I'm not sure.
