161 Construction update

I still stay in contact with a few of my co-workers from my previous employer and we often chit-chat about the projects we have worked on together. Under the cut are a few photos that I wanted to share from the SH161 - Western extension of PGBT project that runs between IH-30 and IH-20. As you can see construction is well underway but they're still

thats really awesome shots... would like to see from GBTP & IH30... i get to drive thru that every day. the stuff from Miller down to 30 that you can see along the side road, is very kewl, and it looks as if they will be done, hopefully by this time next year.

Sorry you have to deal with construction traffic, I'm glad I don't have to drive though the area every day. :P

But yeah, a lot of it is pretty cool looking as you drive along the service/side roads.

Well you know they say everything is bigger in Texas, the road network included. ^.^

I've no idea how we compare on traffic volumes in this corridor to what you are accustomed to but these big interchanges are very common where our freeways cross.

I do like looking at the pretty pictures. What I always find fascinating is the complete differences between road designs here vs over there. Here it would be traffic lights or maybe a few roundabouts, there is a chance of a fly over, but the idea of cloverleaf style flyovers, almost non-existant.

I've had very little to no exposure to how things are designed in Australia so I it's hard to speculate on why things are different. My first guess would probably be large differences in population and traffic volumes....could be funding as well.

There are several of these interchanges under construction around DFW, I drive through another one on my way to work every day but I don't have any snazzy pictures of it. :D
