yay for texas :)

and i'm with you 100% on the looting thing. i almost yelled at my poor stressed out mother today (who herself is cut off from most information) because she mentioned, "all that looting, isn't it horrible??" well, NO, new orleans sinking into the lake with probably about 100,000 residents still "habiting" within its premises is HORRIBLE. 25,000 people rotting in the filth and stench and 100 plus degree temps of the superdome is horrible. Let 'em have their fucking water and diapers for god's sake. Take the TVs too, who the hell cares right now??

Very nicely said.

I hope you'll be sending this to all newspapers around the country, and TV stations too.
This is what journalists used to call "perspective" back when they believed in presenting a drawing with more than one point...

America is full of fatuous greedy entitled morons who believe they are the chosen people. The constant tragedy is that 25% of New Orleans people are below the poverty line. But now that they're 100% below the water line the happy-faced TV journalists can make them out to be villains too. ANd the lack of any good perspective in the media is maddening...

Now I just hope my incommunicato pals are still alive...

Tragically, that's none of them, but Pollyanna that I am, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Yes.
And agreed with the people who were suggesting letters to the media outlets.
We can also add to the outrage fodder the people who label certain people 'looters' and certain people taking the same stuff to be 'finders'

Yeah, it's sad that the big screen tvs and the loads of jeans are being taken in the frenzy, but for chrissakes it's crazy to get upset with people for seeing to needs that are simply not otherwise being met.
