Can anyone recommend a very pale (NOT white, i don't wish to look like a clown) foundation that doesn't cost the earth (That's MAC out, then), and is widely available

But Max Factor do 'Ivory' which is also very good, it's a liquid and is rather good coverage. Costs about £10 and lasts yonks.

I've got laureal tranclucid soft ivory.. I think it was about 7 quid, but I'm not sure. I tend not to worry too much about prices on make up though, as I wear it so rarely that it lasts me forever and a day (which is probably really horrible and unhygenic - I tend to stop using things because I've lost them or they've gone old and manky, rather than cause I've run out)

I use the body shop matte 001 which is the palest shade that they do, and they have matching powder and concealer.

I use Max Factor 'hypersmooth'.. 02 (Ivory).. 01 (if you can find it!)

Not ideal, but it's pale enough for me (but then I've never liked the clown look) and available at any Boots you care to mention.. :)

Hammerite. It's a tenner for a litre and it lasts forever.
