Dear Journal.

I have decided that David Copperfield is in fact performing real magic and you can all go to hell if you try to say otherwise.

Because you're part of the conspiracy trying to claim it's all a hoax and hide magic from the world.

SHAME ON YOU!

No, shame on you for being a credulous motherfucker.
Look up Banachek, James Randi, and, of course, Penn & Teller.

I watched David Copperfield when I was a kid in England. He is the best as far as I am concerned.

I watched him when i was a kid in New Zealand. He's not the best, as far as I'm concerned. Derren Brown's quite good (his leaning on pseudoscience aside), and the others are skeptical magicians. Randi's prolly the figurehead of skepticism, he's friends with P&T, and used Banachek to infiltrate a shitty, unscientific psychic experiment. They all admit they're not doing real magic. As Derren Brown says in Trick of the Mind, they achieve results using "magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship".
"ooooh a conspiracy", honest to god, wtf. How big would it have to be, for all the magicians of the world to collude? Why would people get blackballed for breaking the code?, etc. etc. Oh, to keep up the "illusion"/conspiracy. Well isn't that just dandy, you have an answer for all the difficult questions.
Also, copperfield isn't that good. His statue of liberty and levitation are his "best" tricks, and both are pretty mundane.

The levitation at the time was completely state of the art.

And Copperfield constantly refers to what he does as illusion.

I'll agree on the fact he has issues yaknow with his secret porn chamber and all but I would never think mirrors to be real magic.
