Phillip deftly plucked a glass of red wine from the tray of a passing servant and strode out of the ballroom. Now was the best time for a little work. *googles* Oooooh. *laughs* Well, unintentionally, I suppose there are similarities! *chuckles* I've not run into Raffles before, promise! :)
I think I am going to have to find those books, sometime AFTER I finish writing the novel. ;) The characters are well and different enough, as far as I can see... But I wouldn't want there to be any more similarities than there are already!
*chuckles* Regardless, thank you for the compliment!! :)

There is at least one more section to this one.. I'm not sure I'll make it to next week anyway, but if I did, I still think this story would be on the back burner for a week. I have an idea that would technically fit.. But it would be a stretch, and I'd rather see something fitting done for the prompt. :)

I'm glad we get to see Philip being sneaky in this one; he's very smart, he is. And it was quite suspenseful, wondering if someone would catch him in the act.
I love the little details- the foul wine, the activities of Marwell, plus interesting bits of Philip's history scattered around.
My favorite line: "As the doors closed behind him, the cacophony of the evening was muffled and muted, falling to a rather tolerable din, which became a murmur, a low hum, with each step down the hall he took." <-- It's so tight and descriptive, yet flows well.
I could have read have read this story all day; it ended too soon! Can't wait for more :3

Doesn't look like I'm going on to next week. I might write the next part up as a jff. Especially since the suicide part is a stretch. If I don't, it will surely be up soon. Either as an entry next month, or just put up here to conclude it for those who have been following. :) If'n you like, I'll add you, so you can see it if it doesn't make it up for the flame. :)
