I think this is an epicly bad idea.nobodeySeptember 20 2009, 11:32:04 UTC
Oh lord you are in the right to do whatever paper you want, but traditionally college teachers grade on how close a paper is to one that THEY would write. If you want the moral victory, then go for it no matter what. If you want to jab your teacher a bit, then go for it. But there is a very high probability of at least a D, if not an F.
That is, of course unless you make the paper so F'ing good that you can take it to your dean afterwards... but that tends to piss your teacher off.. just sayin' =)

Maybe. It seems like an injustice and a faulty paper, though, to report false statistics that have been disproven since they were published. Had I chosen another subtopic to run with I could have easily gone with the status quo, but in terms of criminal justice and family law, things don't swing with the expected gravity of a man's place in the world over a woman's.
I kept it pretty to-the-point and simple to avoid that slippery-slope argument that's bound to attempt itself at least once. For the few paragraphs that I was allowed, I'm hoping that it's fairly solid and that cited works of lawyers, retired judges, law pages, and recent court statistics back that grade up.
Maybe it's worth mentioning at least once in the paper that the basic issue of bias is against women, but that you're specifically choosing a marginal case, to investigate the breadth of what bias means...
Such was my intro, and I listed a few handfuls of cited works including law pages, hard court statistics, statements of retired female judges, etc. It's not a popular side, though, so I'm still expecting the worst.
I had to do an asignment like that for my soc class. I was one of 2 in the class that took the point of view that men can have it harder in society then women at the moment. It seems people are so indoctrinated in hearing certain buzz words that they cant even think of opposing.
Im all for women being equal(as one) but people don't seem to think about how women have taken over the male gender role leaving a man to have to figure out things from a new angle.
