As many of you already know I have a truck that hubby tore apart to fix...THREE+ YEARS ago. The truck has a strong engine, recently rebuilt transmission and overall is an awesome little rig. Hubby is more than capable of fixing the truck. But still he hasn't fixed it yet ( Read more... )

Two ideas: can you find someone on one of the Craigslist auto forums who fixes cars, and contract or barter with them to get it fixed? The other idea is to approach the local high school or college voc/tech program(s) about taking it on as a project for their automotive repair class/es.

You could even post your own Craigslist ad (under some kind of blind email address if needed, it's easy to set up a single-purpose one on Gmail, for instance) and offer to barter something (sewing/tailoring, maybe?) for the work on the truck.

The underlying premise of these ideas is accepting that he will never "get around to" fixing the truck, and if you want it done, it's up to you to figure out how. This posting may be a good start - *if* you follow through on one or more of the suggestions you get.

These are both good ideas...

I am actually planning on posting on CL and also checking with BTC our local tech college.

I have basically given up on him doing it though I had a meltdown yesterday and dumped the whole emotional mess (about the truck) in his lap when I spoke with him on the phone.

He says he is going to work on it, but I am not holding my breathe.

If you moved out and took his car with you, he'd probably be more motivated to fix your truck.
