Good questions. I will sort of address the ones about where Ryan went when he left the first time and where he went now on the last chapter. But to answer your other questions, yes, he went back to Miami temporarily. In Chapter 1, I believe, remember that he had come reluctantly after Eric finally got a hold of him (after 4 months of being gone), and he met him at Eric's apartment.

As far as why he didn't just stay with Eric? I'll address a little bit of that on Chapter 7 and then more on Chapter 8. Hope this helps, and thanks for reading. You're fabulous for doing so! :D
