This hasn't opened officially here yet, but I'm quite keen to see it, Andrew Scott or no Andrew Scott. But since I haven't seen him in anything else except that teeny theatre segment in the NT celebrations, it'd be interesting :)
I'm skimming LJ before turning in and have saved this to read in more depth later, but just wanted to say: I saw an early screening and absolutely loved it. Maybe it was that the crowd really wanted to be there, half Sherlockians and half film students (this is NYC), but it was easily one of the best dramas I've seen in quite a while and if anyone else is on the fence they should check it out.
Yesssss, this. I really didn't see how they could pull all the threads together, but they totally did and made it so deep. That sounds like a lovely screening. :)
I'm so waiting for this movie to finally open here, because I've heard so many good things about it! The cast is fantastic, the trailer looked like fun, but it's also about an important topic (that's gotten kind of forgotten I guess; I mean outside of the UK people likely won't know anything about it).
I really enjoyed the film, too. (Though I do agree with you about its treatment of the feminist group, compared to the rest of the film.) Like you, I loved the film's focus on alliance and solidarity.
It's something that I think a lot of groups today would do well to use--seeing who else out there needs help and coming to their aid. Glad you liked the film! :)
