Spoiler-free thoughts about the new movie Captain America: Civil War! In short: really great!

It's from the same directors who made the excellent Captain America: the Winter Soldier (the Russo brothers), and it shows: in this superhero movie, the themes, characterizations, and motivations are both complex and subtle. The villain is especially ( Read more... )

I also forgot! I'm glad I wasn't the only one. But he was fun, although not in the movie very much!

You have me going a bit *bouncy* here. I was all set to go do it, but after shopping a minor sinus headache kicked it up a notch and I decided it was best to wait than go when I wouldn't be able to enjoy it. Next weekend, hopefully.

I am so looking forward to it.

I might be one of the very few people who only watched half the first one (on DVD, walked away *g*) didn't see the second at all, but turned up for this one. And it was really good, for what it was :)

Yay, I'm glad you liked it even though you couldn't get through the first Captain America! The second one was much better and had deeper themes. The second and third movies I'd say were pretty equally good, though I enjoyed this third one a bit more cinematically. There are some plot holes that I'm willing to forgive because of the good characterizations and themes. :)

I loved it too (just made my spoiler post about it^^),so much, and have high hopes for the new Avengers movies!
Glad to see that the villain is praised a lot. I think Daniel Brühl is a really good actor and am happy to see him getting so many Hollywood roles in recent years (in high profile projects no less).

It's great that the Russos seems to always tackle very current topics and do a commentary on them. *g*

Yay, I'm glad you got to see it as well. Daniel Brühl is really making a name for himself. He was fantastic in Rush and The Fifth Estate (with Benedict!), and his subtle performance here can only be good for his continuing career.

I don't know much else that the Russos have done other than the paintball episodes in Community--have you seen anything else by them? I'm really glad they'll be directing the upcoming Avengers movies, though!

Yes, I especially loved Brühl in "Rush" because he nailed that role. And that movie is awesome overall, anyway.^^

I've looked the Russos up now, because I also only know them from the MCU. They did lots of "Community", several "Arrested Development" episodes and a few episodes on other shows. And "You, Me, and Dupree", uhm so... I guess they must've done so great with "Community" that they got CATWS, which went through the roof.
