He's not an antipope....

His authority is NOT temporal....

The nicest priest I've known as an adult, who is mildly but failthfully liberal, knew the right words to persuade my husband that Francis isn't a bar to being CAtholic, when my husband is pig headed and Francis is often falling short of what we can desire...

At least he's not putting his son up for pope? (IANAE, just one of those things I vaguely remember being an Issue with seriously bad popes)

If only the problem were just a bad pope, bad in the sense of personally and politically corrupt.

As I'm sure you've heard said, the problem is more like the 4th century when the Church was numerically majority Arian, and the heretics were running the institutions.

Only I think now it's even worse than that.
