"Path of the Fury" by David Weber.  It has Sci-Fi, Fantasy and really good characters all in one book, and Weber is one hell of a writer.

I wish I was writing. I have story ideas/partial outlines/random scenes/one-liners written down longhand for something like twenty fics in three different fandoms, and none of them want to be written. *grrr* Other than that I've been doing some beta-reading, which I really enjoy, and waging a constant war with my allergies. The allergies are winning. X_x

I'm also going back to school this fall, which will be... an adventure, I suspect. Are you still with the Air Force?
