I'm pretty sure it is. I mean, it has to be.

Especially since he didn't go into much detail of explination, and was incredibly lazy with it at the end.

And if it is indeed satire, it's a beautiful piece of it.

If not....

He has a whole series of videos like this. I've seen some of his "advanced" work, and he's not all that bad, if a little generic (county fair caricatures, Gary Larson-esque cartoons, cookie cutter comic book heroes, etc.). And, for a quick doodle, I've seen worse... But why would you show a quick doodle on an instructional video? That takes most beginning-artists a step BACK, not forward. You'd think that for an entry-level instructional video, there would be more emphasis on fundamental anatomy and facial expression. You know... The building blocks of drawing. *shrug*
