Could everyone reading this please suggest one sci-fi novel (author and title if possible) that I can put on a reading list for someone at work who is looking to expand their horizons a little.

I've put down most of my favourites already, so it'll be good for me too.

Cheers

My usual suggestion is the Gap Series by Steven Donaldson, but that could be a bit long (and brutal) for someone lookig to expand their horizons.

How about Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson?

or Neuromancer by Willam Gibson.

Never heard him called Frank C Herbert. Without sarcasm, is there another Frank Herbert?
