Meep! Poor human Spike... poor dense Buffy... If only she'd realized her power over hom sooner.

Well, that was … after they’d already slept together. “I didn’t tell you to attack some girl in an alley-”

“You told me I was a monster.”

“I didn’t tell you to burn yourself up,” she blurted out, surprising both of them.

He reached out and tucked a stray lock behind her ear. “You told me I was a champion,” he said warmly.

This, and the part leading up to it, were all perfect. So much encapsulated in so few words.

Thank you. :) I actually had that Spike/Buffy scene written out almost in its entirety for over two years, since before I started posting the story, just waiting for the big confrontation.
