Awww. I like your version much better. Which isn't saying much, so I'll add that your version was funny and sweet and I like your Joan and Randy lots. And hee! About Buffy never figuring out Riley knew them.

I've had this nudging around my head since I wrote "A Very Joan and Randy Christmas" a couple of years ago. Sometimes it was Riley who came back and got the huh?, sometimes it was Angel or Wes. When I realized that AYW was broadcast around Valentine's Day, I didn't really have a choice.

Man, I hate that episode. You know what's amazing? How many visitors to my site find it when searching for Riley fanfic. I'm not exactly a fan, so that's really kind of sad. That must be a fanfic search that doesn't yield a lot of fruit.

First of all, you're a brave soul. Secondly, this made me laugh immoderately : “Are you kidding? I’m not running after that guy like someone from loser central! I don’t trust him, anyway. Something about his eyes. Like he’s the kind of guy who acts all goody-goody, then runs around when your back’s turned and gives you something you need penicillin for. If the gun meant so much to him he shouldn’t have left it.”
So much better than the original and very sweet. Nothing like an early Valentine.

Thanks. I have to say, Riley Finn delivering a benediction of reassurance to Buffy in that episode turns my stomach like nothing else. Uh, other than her insulting Spike in front of Riley. Ugh. I think I might need to sit down and have some tea.
