Mechanized infantry is what the military is evolving into

All the major divisions of the army (1st, 3rd, 25th, 101) have all added regiments of Mechanized infantry to thier ranks

The main purpose of MI is sustained conflict, sorta like mass warfare. See, the rangers, marine recon, etc job is to have troops down range quick and in a damn hurry, smash and grab basically. Now if they were to run into any enemy INFANTRY unit (I mean a true infantry unit, air support, artillery, reserve) They'd be destroyed. But mechanized have all components, and can fight battles days on end

They are harder to move, so they usually utilized only when there is a strong presence of enemy in a region I.E fallujah, takrit, baghdad during the early stages of the invasion

Now, I'll be glad to report I am serving the 25th inf. division in Hon lulu Hawaii, as... get this AN INFANTRY MARKSMEN!!!!! (sniper)
