I wanted to kick off my first feature reading of 2010 with a bunch of brand new pieces. A few of the other pieces have only bed read once before, so all in all it was pretty fresh.

-first set-

Irreversible
Damned Superstitions
yet-to-be-titled Jazz conversation piece                        (NEW)
Approaching The Intersection ( Read more... )

I don't mind the people who came out for half a show, so much.

They didn't miss out as much as people who weren't there, for any of it. Their loss.

Mapquest works the best for me.

Whenever I have to go out to Tempe or Mesa (I don't know my way around those places), I always scope out the layout on mapquest first.

Yeah, I did actually do that. Apparently the road and the map look too different to my mind though. So, until I actually drive it a few times myself I won't get the hang of it. Maybe next time I could follow someone. I learn by experience so I'll have to try it a few more times. Hopefully not all by myself though. I'd much rather get lost with someone else there too.

Either you guys need to come here or we need to come there. I'm thinking you to here, but it's damn cold.

Maybe we'll just have to raise money for a field trip.

seriously. these people here are an amazing assemblage, the best possible representation of phoenix poetry. shawnte orion is one of the SOUND EFFECTS PLAYERS. that's all i need to say about him other that he and jack evans are the reason i accepted hosting a poetry open mic. jack evans is the pope, the dean, the senior senator. i used to say that my goal was for people to say that i was the next jack evans. truth is if there is another jack evans it will be shawnte orion. cat klotsche is one of the purest poets of the bunch. once i was listening to a cd of hers that was produced by dave tabor as part of his bathroom sessions and without the distractions of a public setting it really became evident that she was beyond her years in talent. patrick hare. if i've said it a million times i've said it a thousand, "if i could write like patrick hare i wouldn't have to write like me." jeff falk covers a lot of territory in the phoenix art community. his prose is amazing, his poetry when he decides to let us hear is is also ( ... )
