I have just had the (not-so-or-maybe-terribly-so) brilliant thought that at the age of 34, I'm still chasing after the "popular" crowd just like I did in high school. Desperately yearning to be a part of the shiny and the fun and feeling constantly like I'm falling short ( Read more... )

Would it help to know that we all feel like that sometimes? Sometimes I look at people I went to high school or college with and wonder how they got to where they are today. Truthfully it is normal to feel like you fall short because you are holding yourself to a ridiculous standard that you can't ever aspire to because you are just too darn hard on yourself. So my advice is look at yourself and find something that you do well and concentrate on that. Realize that as we become adults we feel more isolated and often feel like our friends are distant or that the most important people in our lives could be online or something like that because that is life...... that is busy messy crazy life.
I am here for you if you need to or want to talk.
