This weekend was super, super busy. Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, Olympics, Chinese class performance, Celebrasia, CSSA New Year Show, Noah coming back to town after being on co-op all quarter, Billie's birthday...
-Friday-
The Chinese classes combined to put on a show, with each class putting on an act. We sang "对面的男孩看过来", which is basically a comedic song about a lonely guy/girl. The guys did an awesome job choreographing this.
A version of the song I miss hanging out with Noah. He's always decently entertaining...and he's also one of my party sources. :P But we (with some other friends) got dinner and chilled while watching the Olympic opening ceremony. I don't think this ceremony was as fancy as the China one, but it wasn't bad. I liked seeing the torch-bearer snowboarding down the slope to reach the stadium. That was cool.
Fan dance rehearsal at 10pm. Although I volunteered for this last minute 'cause they needed extras, I still had a lot of practice. I'm not allowed to release the performance version yet, so you get to see a dress rehearsal. I'm the one who is wearing black and white, with a few small moments of fame.
Fan Dance -Saturday-
More rehearsal, and then the actual performance. Celebrasia is always a lot of fun. Last year, I merely helped out with decorations and fundraising ahead of time, so I got to enjoy the show from the audience. This year, I spent most of my time backstage, getting ready, and watching it from the side with Sean. (He's tech and he was working.) It's a wholly different view from back there... The skits were so funny, the hip-hop was cool, and we were of course awesome! Bad Romance by Treblemakers asian a capella group! I loved it so! And ReFresh is always one of my favorite acts (hip-hop).
-Sunday-
Waking up at 8:30 to get to rehearsal at 9, only for them to tell us that they weren't ready yet and come back at 11. >.< I so needed the sleep, and here you are, telling me I could have slept more? Rehearsal at 11, and then performance at 3. This show, CSSA New Year show, is put on by the graduate students. Very Asian, but kind of amusing. Some of them danced/sang Chicago. You know, the musical. Very amusing, that.
During the rehearsal, one of the guys got hurt. He was supposed to block the spear, but got poked in the eye. He was bleeding when I saw him walk past. Thank goodness that everything is still intact. Just a really large bruise on his eye. *shudder*
After the performance, Sean and I rode the El to Argyle Street for some authentic Chinese food. Oh, how I missed it. It was really busy everywhere though, since it was Valentine's as well as Chinese New Year. But I enjoyed it. ^_^
Time to go back to studying.
