Return of the revenge of the tag-team Venture fic! lolisodapop and I started writing this via email when I was still working at Hell Office, but we both got sniped away from our emails... sniffle. I found it in my outbox, and since she's having a crap day, and I could use a little Venture snark, we decided to dust it off and keep going ( Read more... )

Okay, he had a point there. More annoyed with herself than anything, Dr. Girlfriend let go of his wrist with a deep, annoyed sigh.

"Look, I don't like this any more than you do, but either way, guild rules say I have to offer you medical help, or just shoot you on the spot so you don't suffer. If you really want, I'll have a henchman or something come clean you up."
It was a threat she wanted to make sure Dr. Venture knew she was more than willing to carry out, if he was going to keep being a jackass.
"I don't know what you think you're doing anyway, you do realize the Charlene thing was an act, right?"

"Listen, you painted hussy," Venture huffed, "I know the Guild rules better than ANY of you jackasses, tuh-RUST me, and I'll HAVE YOU KNOW that --- wait."

He blinked.

"Charlene thing? What Char----- HOLY MOTHER OF CRAP THAT WAS YOU?"

"Didn't you...oh my God, you're being serious." A tight, painful feeling was starting to develop in her chest, sort of the same feeling she got when the henchmen disappeared into the canyon behind the cocoon, and came back covered in poison ivy.
What had she done? What had she just gotten herself into?
"Look, don't go making a thing of it." What else could she say? She had opened her big mouth, and now she was going to have to dig herself out of a trench that went from Manhattan to god damn Los Angeles and back again.
"I didn't even think you were going to remember it the next day." Lamest excuse. She had ever come up with.

"A thing? A THING?" His voice was reedier and squeakier than usual - it was probably the blood loss. But he could still do volume, very obviously. "What, I'm supposed to just WAKE UP the next morning and FORGET that some woman with great gams and a fashion sense off a Chinese folding screen gave me one HELL of an entertaining night? A night which, may I add," he continued, leaning back on the cot to keep his head from spinning, "sustained me, via memory, through one of the most horrifying ordeals of my adult life? Adult life, mind you. I had some crazy shit happen to me as a kid that towered over that giant grub thing like ... like .... like Brock over circus midgets."
