The first time Martin stepped into the Guild Hall in Crestfall, he thought his head might explode from the noise. Members of every guild in the city were all clustered round the foyer, chattering amongst themselves. He was used to the noise, out in the open air, but somehow, when you put a building around it, it all got much, much louder. He wasn't even sure where to begin getting someone's attention, but he had to try, after all.
"Hello?"
No one made any sign that they had heard him. He set his bag down at his feet and cupped both hands to his mouth, trying again. "HELLO?"
Still, nothing. Martin heaved a sigh, blowing his bangs up and away from his forehead, and glanced around the hall, close to scowling. He dragged his bag over toward one of the columns, and leaned up against it, crossing his arms and drumming his fingers as he looked out at the throng. They said the best way to find the master of the Merchants' Guild was to go to the hall, but the young man was beginning to think he'd have better luck getting his attention wandering the streets, the way he had been for the past few days. Maybe once more, for good measure, then...
"HELLO?" It was becoming clearer and clearer that either no one could hear him, or no one cared. With a smirk, Martin filled his lungs once more, and bellowed:
"GUILDMASTER KRENOR EATS TOADS FOR BREAKFAST!"
Instantly, every eye in the room was on him, the only sound that of people's clothing as they turned to stare at him.
Martin smiled warmly, unruffled. "Anyone know where I can find him?"
