So, life ate me alive again. Let's see if I can tolerate a decent post typing on my phone... The touchscreen keyboard is still winning about half of the battles we have.
I started a new job a few months back, and after three months was asked to work full-time because one Deb quit and another Deb got fired. Her sister had died but she tried to handle work anyway, couldn't and so asked to leave, clocked out, and bosslady counted it as Deb quitting. Nice, huh? The owner guy was willing to hire her back, but left it up to bosslady, which would be why we're undrestaffed. Another of the girls, who has been around maybe two months longer than I have, has lately been showing her true colors(I say 'girl,' really she's at least in her fifties). She refuses to do the job we all have to do, declaring that putting fabric away and straihtening the tables isn't why she was hired. She's there to help people.
Tell me honestly. When you're shopping and some obnoxious woman comes up to you and asks you if you need help, then starts talking about everything under the sun BUT what can be found in the store, do you feel helped? How about when she starts talking about how Christians are full of shit(in a strongly Christian town, mind you) and how she and her fellow black Muslims are the best there are to be found, do you feel helped then? But don't fret, she's not just racist against us pasty little white chicks, she seems to hate everybody. A regular customer who is never anything but nice, if occasionally a little playful and teasing? She declares to his face that he is rude and disrespectful to her.
And as for we coworkers, forget it. If she's pissed for whatever reason, she'll throw fits, among other things. I have had, so far these past two weeks alone, an empty fabric tube, my receipt book, my time card, and a few pens thrown at me. Friday I had all the timecards in hand to look for mine, found hers first and handed it to her, and was rewarded with a papercut on the webbing between my thumb and finger because of how she snatched it. I have been bruised by her, infuriated by her, and had to sooth pissed off customers because she'll start helping them then find someone else to help and then just walk away. Inthe middle of the transaction, without a word. She also tends to ignore people, cut fabric without writing it on the ticket... What's that called again? Oh yeah. Theft.
..I got off on a tangent there. Typing isn't completely atrocious, I hope. Anywho, working full time. Also got hired by some friends to costume their band, which is fun when it isn't frustrating. Kind of like pulling teeth to get any designs or fabric choices out of them. But! They're planning a tour for this summer, to the UK. If it happens, I'm apparently going with. How cool is that? I'd be paid to go tour the UK. If I don't kill them over costumes first.
Anyway, that's what is going on in my little corner of the world. Exciting, no? I know. It's not. Maybe next post I'll have something more fun for you.
