Erg!!!

Silly me opened my mouth during the discussion group that I went to today. One of the questions went something like "since our time is short, how do we view our day to day life?" Or something like that. I mentioned the saying "living like you were dying" similar to the song and one of the lady's started laughing and basically said "If you're ( Read more... )

It's simple. If God didn't mean for something to be enjoyed, it wouldn't be fun. If He didn't want us to do stuff just for fun, then we wouldn't be capable of it ( ... )

First of all, thank you *hug/sniff* I needed all this pickup. I mean I wasn't down in the dumps about it (too much) but it was nice to hear from someone else.

When I do something I enjoy, I want to enjoy it to the extreme that makes me feel alive. I guess one of the things that frustrates me is it seems some people have this view that if humans invented it or are using it, then God has no part in it. I know they don't say that, but they "act" that way. But the whole creation is God's making, and though it is fallen now, it was good when He created it. I want to enjoy that goodness.

As for witnessing... its been my view that showing how I do enjoy life >is< a witness. It's not so much a witness of sitting someone down perhaps, but it is a witness of how I treat my life...

I really like that slogan. :D Sounds like something I can very much relate to.

God is in the quiet moment of meditation, the screaming plunge out the side of a perfectly good airplane, the morning bird song, the burn of sweat and tired muscles, the satisfied glow of a job well done, the happy chatter of friends. Jesus lived as a regular man, He did his chores, He played with friends, He built furniture, He socialised and went to wedding feasts.

Why should we dare declare or consider ourselves super spiritual by abstaining from such things? It is the essence of being human, being who God created us to be. If that's not the proverbial clay telling off the potter, I don't know what is.

(P.S. I see I've converted you to Toby Mac ;)

Agreed. There are times I want peace and quite and times we need to get away from the pressure of the world to regain our spiritual feet. And then there's times where we have to stop discussing things and get down and start doing physical work. That's the wonderful thing about being human, we are not meant to be all spiritual or all physical, but both together ( ... )

P.P.S - That's not stupid, she is for having an attitude like that. Don't let people look down on you or say that you're wrong just because you're younger or you disagree with them. Being older doesn't automatically make you a mature Christian or a wise person.

Dress my first sentence with sarcasm and you'll get closer to the tone of voice that was going through my head when I typed the first sentence up. But yes, you are correct, and it's can be a little easy for me to feel like I'm ending up on the wrong side because all the older people are saying the same thing. I'm still struggling to find a good balance of being respectful of them but not letting them run me over or think that their words aren't very hurtful. Somedays I still can't believe that I can be more mature then someone twice my age... I can't be all that wise after 20+ years, right? (or so goes my dazed mind before I bring it back to Earth)

Thankfully I have my family and siblings who are usually lumped into the same "you're too young to know anything" bunch as I am so I've got support. :) Oh, and you. :D *glomp*
