Glad you enjoyed the trip, but of all the places in Europe, why Munich? To my admittedly uniformed self, that seems like, I dunno, visiting Massachusetts and only going to Worchester or Springfield. Or going to California, giving the Bay Area a miss and hanging around Stockton for a week.
Munich, because gomijacogeo lived there for two years twenty years ago. So it was getting the insider's tour, which is alway much superior to just being a tourist. And, as you'll see (you did notice that i haven't posted days 2 and 3 yet, didn't you?), there are definitely some cool things to see.
Some people travel breadth-first, others depth-first. For some, seven days in Europe implies 11 cities in 5 countries and sleeping on the train.
I prefer going somewhere and soaking up what it's like to live there. In this case there was also familiarity - I know the city well and can play tour guide.
I did offer up day trips to Füssen/Neuschwanstein and/or Salzburg (and, more locally, Andechs and the Starnberger See) to liven things up, but due to weather, sleep, and time concerns we didn't go.
Ten years ago my ex and I spent an entire month in Bavaria. That meant we hit a lot of out-of-the-way sights like the German Medical Museum in Igolstadt.
