Thanks, hon. I had to go straight to work after the service ended, and noticed how little traffic there was on the way - probably coincidence, but meh.
Was hoping one of my lovely friends would find it for me! :)
Yeah, it was pretty moving. I just kept reminding myself of how lucky the kids were to have a dad like that, and such a lot of footage etc to have around of him. Especially young Bob, who hardly had very much time with him

Yeah, I told my mom this was the kind of thing Steve would have liked, the fact that for the most part it was a celebration. But then I doubt he could have handled the look of grief on Terri's face whenever they showed her. I think this is probably hardest of all on her, now that I've seen Bindi seems to be handling it well. Or better than I had worried about. I'm sure all the love people have shown for her father has helped, and the support of the zoo staff too. Like John Stainton said later, Steve would have been SO proud of her and her speech.
I'm glad they broadcast the whole thing here too. And without commercials, which is really unusual for America.
My mom loved the poem, so I sent her the words. I'm glad you found them. :)
Was given a beautiful copy of a print run done of the poem on some light board, with a pic of Steve in one corner and Rupert McCall in another. It was done by a friend of mine for a fundraiser - they did it overnight, sold them all the next day and raised nearly $10,000 for WWW! Will see if I can scan it (as am madly scanning other stuff for something else at the moment)
I hope so too, as it really was a tribute to Steve, and everything he lived for. As Rupert even said in his poem, at times he made us cringe, but he lived life to the fullest. It was like he knew he had so much to do in so little time, so didn't waste a damned minute of it

It still doesn't seem real, even after this.

I really liked that. It was mentioned in our news but I don't know if they'll broadcast the memorial -I hope so.
