So I'd really like to know what kind of a business is ok with the fact that someone works nearly a year for you, in childcare no less, without all the proper paperwork, and the district manager finds it completely acceptable and understandable ( Read more... )

o.O that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. How can they just be ok with being so...disorderly?! Damn.

I couldn't even tell you where my diploma is, I wanna say it's in the closet, buried with all the other crap, but I cannot be certain!

That's what I thought! I mean, who sits there and says "Oh, we lose our employees files all the time, you know the photocopies of your birth certificate, and your social security card, and you driver's license... yeah, it just goes missing. Completely normal!"

SERIOUSLY?! WTF?!!!

No, you're not overreacting. Your boss is being a dickwad. But yeah, I know from personal experience that you can get into this shit with no credentials/proof. I was a T.A. with no degree, they didn't ask for my H.S. diploma (I told them that I had a year of college and the lady's face lit up), and no background check. That's the part that bit my ass. I'm like how the fuck can they have people working there with no bg check o.O Poor kids.

There has to be a way to get a copy of your diploma. It might cost you a little, though, but I doubt that you're the first person in the history of ever who needed a copy of it and soon. Just keep digging, bb <3

Dude, I think I figured out how people do it - FAKE diplomas. There's pretty much no way to get a copy from the high school, but she's got the transcript to prove it; it seems like everybody just buys fake diplomas. *cracks up*

Nope. State has the ability to reproduce your diploma for the right price and proper ID. It's not a holy grail. xD

Might be different where Vixi is though, idk.

Pfft. Apparently it is in Texas; hardly anyone keeps copies of our diplomas on file for more than a few months. -_-

How dare I say this but Texas should be more Jersey-like, it would seem.

just go to your school and ask for a copy of your diploma, pay the fee and then you'll have it for any other job you get. chances are that you'll need it for your next job anyway.

suggestion, get a box for all your important papers (one that won't be destroyed easily in a fire or something) and put them in it.

Yeah, but my high school said that they don't replace them, you can't get a new one, or even a copy of one. The one they give us is it. Period, nothing else they can do, only transcripts. Lucky after a few hours and pain searching I found it in a long forgotten box.

And yeah, as soon as I find my birth certificate I need to do that XD

I'd photocopy a picture of my ass and hand that in! What the hell is wrong with people these days? Idk what I'd ever do if I actually decided to go work for that studio that offered me that cushy job last year and they wanted to see my degree; that fucker's been gone since I graduated in 2001.

*hugs, offers chocolate?*

UPDATE: I just googled, and I honestly think you should be able to get a copy; contact the Texas Department of Education or some shit! Give them your transcript, tell them you need a copy of the bastard!

Also, if I were you, I'd have the Better Business Bureau on the phone about your workplace's shady filing habits, because that's bullshitPfft, okay, after this, I'm done editing. I think the way people get around this is to order/make a fake high school diploma or degree - I mean, if anyone disputes it, show 'em the transcripts ( ... )

Lol we're in Texas sweetie, you and I both know there are some corner stores in the shady parts of town that can have one made for us in a jiffy XD

I spent a few hours and reinjured my self looking for it in a mountain of long lost packed boxes and found it, so I'm good for now, but honestly it's beside the point. Who loses all your photocopies of important documents, and then just brushes it off b/c she has organizational issues?! And what district manager finds that "understandable and acceptable"?!!!

Omnomnomnom chocolate...

That is...insane. For one, I never heard of a job asking for your HS diploma! Usually a resume suffices, and filling out an employment application. I have had plenty of jobs, and this is plain crazy and totally unfair! *HUGS*

*hugs back* Yeah, I mean, I've worked at daycares before, and I've never even had to turn in a high school transcript! I mean, maybe because it's a kindercare, and we're actually doing a bit of teaching we have to for sure prove we've graduated, but a freaking transcript does it for COLLEGES, so why not a damn daycare?!

Just, ugh. I'm so sick of this crap.
