OMG long time no see, right?! Well, I'll have to give an update on life later, but as usual, the need to freely rant is what has brought be back temporarily. Saw this link on Yahoo today and had to read it... kinda wish I hadn't now, as I am thoroughly infuriated and I don't have the energy to properly raege lol ( Read more... )

I think that the greatest achievement any religious establishment has accomplished is the ability to make their followers rise up and cheer with some nonsense or other that is absolutely absurd in the eyes of sane people. And I can't even say "intelligent" people, I say sane, because oddly, some extremely intelligent individuals are devoutly religious. It all comes down to what works, and the ..Popehood? (lol idk) is as much of a political establishment as anything else, only instead of using government as a base, it uses religion, which is a horribly dangerous thing.

They take something small, like this extremely new stance (New in America, at least) where it is considered bad taste to openly display religion in public places (Though TX doesn't seem to follow this *amused*), and go "There! This is the thing! We now fall into the category of oppressed, and when people feel oppressed, what do they do? They rise up and fight ( ... )

there was only one 'christian' group that opposed, refused to participate, spoke out against hitler and his regime, they were imprisoned, tortured, executed.

i believe that the fact that 'christians' who have been persecuted have mostly been persecuted by other so called 'christians'. one can think of things like the spanish inquisition (anyone who wasn't catholic was targeted i.e. other 'christian' denominations, jews, muslims), ireland (catholic vs. protestant)...
