Discovering Buffy

I'd never seen a single episode of Buffy or knew anything about the fandom (except that it apparently contains just as many "wars" as the Doctor Who fandom). But people who know me are always telling me that I would love Buffy. I just didn't want to go to all the trouble to track down all the episodes. Well, I work with a guy who discovered ( Read more... )

Does James Marsters always play the exact same character in the stuff he does?

Dunno, but I wouldn't be surprised if somebody would have directed him to if not.

Hey ! You can waffle on to me about Buffy/Angel/Firefly any time ! I've only seen Angel once and Firefly (plus the movie Serenity) twice, but I'm sure I still retain enough in my head to natter with you !

Oh and The whole dark/tortured thing that gets on my nerves in DW and makes me want to slap Ten around works much better with Angel

- I agree so very much. Trouble is, RTD's a Joss fan and thought it'd be clever or something...

I think the reason it works more with Angel (based on the first 2 seasons of Buffy) is that he realizes he has people around him that care and that seems to matter to him.

Trouble is, RTD's a Joss fan
Ah! That explains a lot! I was amazed at all the Buffy homage in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (even down to the music) that went right over my head before. I had no idea when Spike was going to first appear in Buffy, but when he did I knew it was him before I ever even saw his face because the entrance was so similar to his TW entrance.

If Rusty's a Joss fan, he needs to learn a few things from him about allowing the characters to grow up and come into their own. (Namely the Doctor).

Once upon a time the Doctor knew that too... :(

Yup ! The number of ripped-off homage moments there are in both Who and TW is quite high.

There's a hell of a lot Rusty needs to (re)learn about DW sadly...
