Talk like a Pirate Day?

Why is it that I never seem to hear about Talk like a Pirate Day until it's over? Is there a mailing list on which I am not? Not that I particularly approve of "piratical" speech (I'm a pedantic grammarian, so natch), but I think the looks I would get at work would be worth it. Besides, it doesn't hurt anyone and it's only for one day

Every year, same day. How could you forget it? Its the birthday of one of the guys that started it's ex-wife. What could be more intuitive? (grin)
