We used to say Little Harold devours books, literally. The tooth marks were evident on all the corners. Luckily, they do out grow that phase. We still have to be careful about Nicholas, he's two. But do start reading to him soon. He'll love the sound of his parents' voices even if the books and pictures don't make any sense yet. I would just start reading aloud anything I was reading (Astronomy, Science News, Scientific American). I would even show the kid being read to the pictures like in a picture book. I got my reading done, the kid felt loved and paid attention to. Win, Win. At about 6 months I switched to baby books.
